Massive Change in Action

The Massive Change in Action project was an education-focused project in which I worked with Bruce Mau, The Institute Without Boundaries, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, and the Toronto District School Board. Besides being its own unique and exciting project, it also served as a primary research project to inform the Virtual Learning Environment project that I worked on the following year. I had 3 main objectives when coming up with this project's concept: to examine the relationship between virtual and physical museum visits and see how complimentary yet different experiences could enrich each other (getting away from "virtual exhibits"); to determine the formal structure of learning resources (learning objects) that would prove most useful for educators; and to develop a participative experience for museum goers through activity based means with expected results.

The end result of the project was that the educators helped shape and prove the form of the learning resources and activities, they then used the resources in-class with their students, brought their students to the Art Gallery of Ontario to see the Massive Change Exhibition, went back to their classes and worked with the activities, and the students then produced their own Massive Change projects which were presented at the Art Gallery of Ontario at a gala event. The project was evaluated, every step of the way, by the Institute Without Boundaries.
