Maitland
Peter Maitland possesses the superpower of film cognition,
having always been able to pick dates of film releases or names
of actors at the drop of a hat. He has been the co-host/co-producer
of CKCU's "Moving Images" for the past nine years.
Peter obtained a Master of Journalism degree from Carleton University
in 1997, after completing a combined honours undergraduate degree
in film studies/mass communication through Carleton's School for
the Study in Arts and Culture.
Peter has a lot of experience as a writer for various media across
Ontario. Among some of his significant accomplishments, he has served
as a book critic for "Ottawa Life" magazine, a film critic,
arts and general news reporter for the "Ottawa Citizen,"
and a national radio arts producer
for CBC's the "Arts Report." He has spent the last six
years as a science writer/editor and communications officer in the
federal government -- with occasional sidelines in arts journalism.
Peter's hobbies include performing in musical theatre, screenwriting,
playing squash and golf, singing in an
acapella chorus -- and singing/playing with a community big band.
Peter loves volunteering with community radio, like CKCU, because
of the sense of community it delivers to its listeners. He looks
forward to his tenth, and what may be final, season of "Moving
Images" with co-hosts Mike Rainville, Corey Timpson and Stephanie
Bertrand. Special thanks go out to Rin Pen for his loyal technical
production skills.
